Providing Excellence in Nursing Care

Dental Health

The best way to confirm that your teeth and gums are healthy is by seeing a dental hygienist and a dentist at least once a year for an assessment of your teeth and cleaning. They will give you specific advice for your gums and teeth health. Change your toothbrush every 3-4 months and do not share it with others as it contains bacteria specific to your mouth and body. Floss daily to remove debris and bacterial from between your teeth and keep your gum healthy.

For dental sores rinse with salt water (1/2 teaspoon to 1 cup of water) 3-4 times day and take 25 mg of zinc – daily. Tongue burning, and dry mouth may be a side effect of age or medications so talk to your pharmacist. You only need a drop of toothpaste to brush so go easy on the toothpaste. A smile is a wonderful gift to give someone so don’t hesitate to pass on your charm
